Bethlehem goaltender Dan Comber was the runaway winner for your Suburban Council boys lacrosse player of the year in last week’s Spotlight sports poll.
We stay with lacrosse this week and pose this question: What are the odds a team from our region wins a state title?
Section II has come close to breaking through in recent years with the Niskayuna boys and Guilderland girls teams reaching the state finals. Niskayuna is back in the boys Class B field with the added honor of being the state’s No. 1-ranked team, while Shenendehowa (Class A) and Glens Falls (Class C) also represent Section II. The three girls teams in the state tournament are Guilderland (Class A), Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (Class B) and Albany Academy (Class C).
So, do you think any of our Section II representatives will become the first to win a state title? Voting is open until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, when hopefully some or all of our teams are still alive in the playoffs.
