The Bethlehem softball team turned in its most dominating performance of the season by beating Mohonasen 17-0 in Thursday’s Suburban Council South Division game.
The Lady Eagles took a commanding lead in the first inning and kept adding runs from there to handle the Mighty Warriors.
“It seems like so far in the season, we’ve only been playing two thirds of a game,` said Bethlehem coach Karen Gentile. `For example, we’d have good pitching and fielding, but not good batting. But today, everything seemed to fit right into place.”
Catcher Erin O’Donnell had a big day at the plate for Bethlehem. She drove in three runs with a pair of doubles off the fence, and she scored two runs.
Senior Genevieve Paeglow contributed a triple to drive in O’Donnell and Mikayla Shade. An error on the play allowed Paeglow to come home, as well.
Megan Sullivan kept Mohonasen off balance with her precise pitching. The Mighty Warriors never got a runner past second base.
`Hopefully, this win will motivate us to keep playing games like this,` said Gentile.
Bethlehem returns to action Monday, April 29, when it travels to South Division rival Columbia.
