Aaron Kalish and Taylor Vavruick combined on a three-hitter to lead Shenendehowa to a 3-1 Suburban Council baseball victory over Guilderland Monday.
Kalish allowed an unearned run and struck out five batters in the first six innings, and Vavruick got the final three Dutchmen hitters in order to pick up the save.
Guilderland took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Cory Moore drove in Patrick Verrelli, who was hit by a pitch. Shen got the run back in the bottom half of the inning on Kyle McAlonie’s RBI single — one of four hits McAlonie had in the game. The Plainsmen then scored twice in the fourth inning to take the lead for good.
Shen recorded 10 hits against Guilderland pitching, but only managed the three runs. Guilderland pitcher Lewis Lima worked out of several jams in his five innings of work.
