Three Bethlehem Central senior athletes made it official on Wednesday, Feb. 6, when they each signed a letter of intent to play for their respective colleges.
Katie Nickels signed to play soccer at the University of Rhode Island, Tara Teal will be playing soccer at Manhattan College and Victor Fox will play golf at the University of Maryland.
Nickels is looking into studying Marine Biology at URI as well as playing goalie for the soccer team. “I’m really excited to get to play in college with so many other talented players. It’s going to be a challenge but I can’t wait to improve my skills and compete for a league title,” she said.
Teal is most excited to be attending school in New York City. After one visit and meeting with the soccer coach, she knew Manhattan was the right choice. She is looking into majoring in business. “I’m looking forward to soccer all the time and greater competition. I like the fact that it’s going to be a greater challenge and I have to prove myself,” Teal said.
Fox has been on the Bethlehem Varsity golf team since seventh grade and has been golfing since age 10.
“Being the only freshman recruit for golf, I’m really excited to make my own way and stand out,” he said.
Fox intends to major in civil engineering.
