The Bethlehem boys basketball team cemented its hold on first place in the Suburban Council South Division by beating second-place Guilderland 73-63 Friday.
The Eagles (11-2 league, 13-2 overall) built a 45-26 halftime lead and withstood a furious fourth-quarter rally to defeat the Dutchmen (9-4, 10-5).
John Sica had 21 points, Myles Bergere contributed 16 points and Nate Kane added 14 points for Bethlehem. Vincent Simeone’s 18 points paced Guilderland, which placed four players in double figures. Andrew Platek netted 14 points, Brian Crupi chipped in with 13 points and Marc Dumoulin added 11 points.
