The Colonie boys indoor track and field team took first place for the second year in a row at the Dartmouth Relays Jan. 11 and 12 in New Hampshire.
The Garnet Raiders won two events and placed in the top six in five more races to finish first with 45 points. Edouard Montpetit High School was second with 38 points, and Bishop Hendricken placed third with 35 points.
Colonie’s two victories came in the sprint medley and 800-meter relays. The sprint medley relay team consisted of Denis Ahmetovic, Zach Latnie, Nick Powers and Jon Holmes, while Jayson Gayle joined Latnie, Ahmetovic and Powers on the 800-meter relay team.
Gayle also had a second-place finish in the long jump, while Holmes, Jake Johnson, Zach Bell and Jordan Johnson finished second in the 3,200-meter relay. Holmes took fourth place in the 1,000-meter race, and Powers placed fourth in the 400-meter dash. Chris West was sixth in the triple jump.
