The Guilderland boys basketball team used a 26-point second quarter to help it defeat Colonie 65-55 in Tuesday’s Suburban Council South Division game.
The Dutchmen (7-2 league, 8-3 overall) built a 41-30 halftime lead and then fended off several second-half rallies to defeat the Garnet Raiders (4-5, 5-6).
Marc Dumoulin netted 21 points, and Brian Crupi contributed 17 points for Guilderland. Crupi and Andrew Platek (14 points) had four of the Dutchmen’s five three-pointers.
Jake Samuels paced Colonie with 16 points.
Girls basketball
Shenendehowa took command early and never looked back in defeating Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 55-26 in Tuesday’s Suburban Council North Division girls basketball game in Clifton Park.
The Lady Plainsmen (5-3, 7-3) raced out to a 13-1 lead after the first eight minutes and increased their advantage to 49-13 by the end of the third quarter.
Carly Boland scored 19 points, and Madi Shea added 10 points for Shen. Morgan Sullivan’s 11 points paced BH-BL.
Boys swimming
The Bethlehem boys swimming team improved its Suburban Council dual meet record to 6-1 with Tuesday’s 101-80 victory over Saratoga Springs in Delmar.
Gunnar Zemering (200-yard individual medley), James Starr (diving), Kevin Flynn (100-yard butterfly) and Alex Taber (100-yard backstroke) earned individual wins for the Eagles. Alex Danielson (200-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle) had two wins for the Blue Streaks.
In other Suburban Council dual meet action, Ballston Spa (2-4) earned its second win of the season by beating Guilderville (1-6) 94-84.
George Stack (200-yard freestyle), Nick Pascucci (200-yard individual medley), Chris Vesic (50-yard freestyle) and Aaron Soden (diving) picked up individual victories for the Scotties. Reid Zyniecki (100-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke) and Jeremy Collison (500-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke) each won two events for Guilderville.
