Now that we’re at the end of 2012, we want to know who your team of the year is. Here are your four choices:
Burnt Hills football — The Spartans finally got over the hump when they defeated Section VI’s Sweet Home 40-14 for their first Class A state title. They had lost their three previous trips to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, with two of those losses coming at the hands of Sweet Home (2008 and 2009).
Burnt Hills girls volleyball — The Lady Spartans repeated as state champions when they defeated Section V’s Pittsford Sutherland 3-1 in the Class A finals. It’s their fifth state championship.
Saratoga hockey — The Blue Streaks knocked off Shenendehowa in the Section II Division 1 finals and reached the state semifinals for the third consecutive year, all of which came after a coaching change at the start of the season.
Shenendehowa softball — The Plainsmen shut out Guilderland 4-0 to claim their first Section II Class AA championship since 2008.
