The Section II playoffs are over, and we have our five representatives for the state football playoffs. Our question this week is, which one of this area’s teams will make it to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse for the state finals? Here are your choices:
Shaker (Class AA) — The state’s No. 1-ranked team has a bye into the state semifinals in Kingston, but the Blue Bison must still get past either the Section I or Section IX champion to get to `the Dome.` That might not be easy for a Shaker team that has never been this far before.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (Class A) — The Spartans have been to the state finals three times in the last four years, so they know what it takes to get through both the regional and semifinal rounds. The only question following their 48-6 victory over Amsterdam in the Sectional final is, will anybody be able to stop their offense?
Glens Falls (Class B) — The Indians stunned most of the experts by beating Schalmont 21-14 in last weekend’s Sectional final. Can they do it again when they play Section VII power Peru in this weekend’s regional game at Shenendehowa High School?
Hoosick Falls (Class C) — The Panthers have dominated Section II for several years, but they also have a habit of being tripped up in the state semifinal round. Is this the year they get to Syracuse?
Rennsealer (Class D) — The Rams benefited from Salem’s upset over top-seeded Cambridge in the Sectional semifinals, as they avoided a rematch against the one team who beat them this season. Now that they’ve gotten past Salem for the Sectional title, can the Rams carry the Section II flag into Syracuse?
Make your selection in the box to the left, and our computer will tally the votes. Results will be available shortly after midnight Monday, which is when voting concludes.
