Anka Parzych’s goal midway through the second half proved to be the game winner as Niskayuna hung on for a 3-2 victory over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in Tuesday’s Suburban Council North Division girls soccer game in Niskayuna.
Kelly Hartlage and Meghan Doyle tallied in the first half to give the Silver Warriors (3-0-0) a 2-0 halftime lead. Carly Finn scored 10 minutes into the second half to pull the Spartans within a goal before Parzych struck eight minutes later.
Finn scored her second goal of the game with less than six minutes left in regulation, but it wasn’t enough for BH-BL.
In Suburban Council South Division action, Guilderland (2-1-0) rebounded from Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Bethlehem by beating Mohonasen 4-0.
Jess Capone, Angela Luizzi and Kara Carman scored in the first half to give the Lady Dutch a 3-0 lead. Capone added her second goal of the afternoon in the second half to seal the victory.
Mohonasen goaltender Saeeda Abdul-Aziz stopped 11 shots.
Boys soccer
In Burnt Hills, Brendan Griffiths’ goal proved to be the difference as Niskayuna edged Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 1-0 in Tuesday’s Suburban Council North Division boys soccer game.
BH-BL goaltender Kurt Souza had seven saves.
Field hockey
Scotia-Glenville rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie its Foothills Council field hockey game against South Glens Falls Tuesday, but the Bulldogs got the final tally in a 4-3 win.
Ashley O’Neil and Megan Murdock scored in the second half to help the Lady Tartans pull even at 3 before South Glens Falls won the game with 1:03 left in the second half. Amanda Kot had Scotia-Glenville’s first-half goal.
Emily Sharpe tallied three times, and Katie Washburn added a goal for South Glens Falls.
Girls volleyball
Guilderland swept Mohonasen 3-0 in Tuesday’s Suburban Council South Division girls volleyball match.
Quincy Kinzel recorded 17 service points including seven aces and eight assists for the Lady Dutch (4-0), who won their three games by scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-15. Rebecca Straubel had nine service points including six aces and six digs.
Morgan Papa led Mohonasen with five kills and seven digs, while Julie Reilly contributed five assists, two kills and two aces.
