SCHENECTADY — The Bethlehem girls tennis team won the Section II Class A championship after beating Saratoga 8-1 on Friday, Oct. 14, at Central Park.
The Eagles — a Bald Eagle flew over the match as the girls were playing (see photo gallery) — will square off against Burnt Hills, the Class A champs, on Saturday, Oct. 15 to determine who from Section II will play in regional competition.
The individual match results are:
- Kirsten Phang (B) def. Kate Lindley: 3-6, 6-3, 6-1
- Zara Pattison (B) def. Addison Jones: 6-3, 6-3
- Hope Brown (B) def. Savannah Winter: 6-4, 5-7, 15-13
- Yuri Lin (S) def. Rayka Kogut: 7-6(8-6,) 7-6(7-3)
- Ana Peles (B) def. Norah Hoke: 6-1, 7-5
- Purvayi Patil (B) def. Paige Charlesworth: 6-0, 6-4
The results of the doubles matches are:
- Suzanna Amirbekian and Natalee Huli (B) def. Lexi Diorio and Molly Beauregard: 3-6, 6-3, 6-4
- Shayna Huli and Kripa Hongalgi (B) def. Taylor Plue and Meili Hoffman-Smith: 6-4, 6-0
- Audrey Henson and Paige Davenport (B) def. Maggie Anthes and Emma Anthes: 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
