COLONIE — The Garnet Raiders jumped out to a 4-0, first inning lead over Christian Brothers Academy in a matchup of two of the top teams in the Suburban Council and never looked back on the way to a 9-1 win.
Zach Ashline gave Colonie the 4-0 lead on a first inning grand slam at Cook Park and, thanks to some solid pitching, it was all the Raiders would need to remain undefeated.
Sam Falace pitched five innings and gave up one run on three hits while striking out 10 and walking four. Gio Conte pitched two innings and didn’t give up any runs on one hit while striking out two.
Joe Gold went four innings in the start for CBA giving up five runs on five hits while striking out eight and walking four. Casey Carroll pitched the last two, giving up four runs on four hits while striking out two.
On offense, Dan Barbero went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a home run and Brendan Shea went 2 for 3 with an RBI while Tyler Figueroa, Jesus Sarda, Tyler Sausville and Josh Slater addd hits.
For CBA, Ryan Bilka went 2 for 3 while Jack Gialanella and Jackson Lilley had hits.
Colonie went on to defeat Queensbury 12-5 and will play at Columbia on Wednesday, April 20 and at Shenendehowa on Friday, April 22.
CBA will play at Bethlehem on Wednesday, April 20 and will host Guilderland on Friday, April 22.
