TROY — The Shaker girls basketball season came to end after a hard-fought battle against the No. 3 seed Albany by a score of 46-40 in the Section II, Class AA semifinals.
Shaker, the No. 2 seed, fell behind 10-0 out of the gate and trailed by 11 after the first quarter, but settled in and pulled within three in the second quarter before ending the half down by nine at Hudson Valley Community College on Thursday, March 3.
Shaker rallied back to within a point late in the game but untimely turnovers prevented the squad from ever taking the lead.
Kaelah Carter had 17 to lead Shaker while Emily Satterday had 11 Kris Foglia chipped in four. Albany freshman Azera Gates led all scorers with 18 while Shonyae Edmonds had 11 and Me’Challe Cancer had 6 for Albany.
Albany will take on the No. 1 seed Shenendehowa on Saturday, March 5, at HVCC for the Class AA title.
