LATHAM — The Bison beat crosstown rival Colonie in a thriller at the buzzer in the two teams’ last regular season game of the year.
With 4.4 seconds left and the score knotted at 63, Zacharie Matulu took the inbound pass at about the opposite foul line and lobbed a pass to Andrew Church, who was streaking up the sideline in front of a Colonie Defender. Church caught the ball on one bounce, took two steps and laid it in for the win as the buzzer sounded.
Matulu led Shaker with 15 points. Church added 13 and CJ Haver had 10. Colonie’s Brandon Gordon led all scorers with 24 while Jeremy Rosario had 22 and Trey Owens-Cody had 10.
Shaker is the No. 7 seed and will take on No. 10 seed LaSalle on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Colonie is the No. 11 seed and will take on No. 6 seed Ballston Spa on Feb. 22.
