COLONIE — The Shaker girls cross country team took the first three spots in a dual meet against Burnt Hills on Saturday, Oct. 10, at The Crossings.
Leonni Griffin took first place with a time of 15:29, Kaleigh Higgins placed second with a time of 15:43 and Andie Harding came in third with a time of 16:17.
The Burnt Hills boys came in the top three spots with standout Ryan Allison coming in first with a time of 13:19, Matthew Rounds second with a time of 13:34 and Peter Fulgieri placing third with a time of 14:05.
Daniel Pavelec was the top Shaker boys finisher, placing fourth with a time of 14:09 with Vinny Levchenko placing sixth with a time of 14:34 and Zack Diehl coming in seventh at 14:43.
The dual meets format has changed because of COVID-19. Rather than the schools’ JV teams running separate races but against each other, the JV and varsity teams for each school run together but not with the competing team. The theory is to avoid contact with someone outside the runners’ daily circle.
Shaker cross country will next compete at Guilderland on Saturday, Oct. 17.
