COLONIE — In a battle of two of the top girls teams in the Suburban Council on Friday, Dec. 27, the Lady Raiders edged out Averill Park 49-47 to win its own tournament.

On Thursday, Colonie beat Liverpool 57-52.

Against Averill Park, Makayla Blake and Ahnalese Pearson had 12 points each to lead the Lady Raiders in front of a large, loud crowd. Sareena DiCerbo and Jayla Taylor had eight each while Marcie Trimarchi chipped in five points.

For Averill Park Kelsey Wood had 14 while Amelia Wood and Ana Jankovic had 10 points each.

Colonie moves to 2-0 in Suburban Council play, one of three undefeated teams in the competitive Blue Division along with Shen and Saratoga, and 5-0 in non-conference play.

Colonie will host Schenectady on Tuesday, Jan. 7 and square off against Shen at home on Friday, Jan. 10.
