BETHLEHEM – The Lady Dutch brought “the juice” on Wednesday, Oct. 30 and eliminated The Eagles from Section II, Class A field hockey tournament.
The two Suburban Council rivals went to double overtime in what was a physical, intense game.
Bethlehem, the No. 2 seed, scored first with six minutes left in the first half on a goal by Kate Davenport to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
Guilderland, the No. 3 seed, tied it up with a goal by Ava Thompson seven minutes into the second half and the teams played even through regulation.
Neither team scored in the first 10-minute overtime, and about half way through the second OT, Jessi Coton hit the game winner after a scramble in front of the Bethlehem goal.
Guilderland will play the No. 1 seed from Shenendehowa for the championship on Sunday, Nov. 3 at Glens Falls High School. The game is slated to start at noon.
