BETHLEHEM — Coming off a first-ever trip to the Class AA state finals last year, the girls soccer team started out with a win in 2019.
It took overtime, but the Eagles came out on top in the season opener in a non-league matchup against Arlington High School on Thursday, Aug. 29 by a score of 5-4.
Eighth grader Claire Hutton scored three times, including the game winner in the first of two 10-minute overtimes and had an assist.
Ruth Hotaling and Joanna VanRoyen had a goal each in the win while Maia Dawson had two assists and Casey Holstein had an assist for the Eagles.
Four different players scored for Section I Arlington: Devon Schmitt, Casey Stowell, Sofia Germano, and Desiree Medhan.
Bethlehem played Burnt Hills Ballston Lake on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and will play Shaker on Thursday, Aug. 5.
