BETHLEHEM — The Eagles and the Blue Streaks met three times this season in what has become one of the fiercest rivalries in girls lacrosse, and the Eagles won all three times by a goal.

On Monday, May 20 it took overtime for the No. 2 seed Eagles to eliminate Saratoga, the No. 3 seed, and advance to the finals against the No. 1 seed Shenendehowa.

Saratoga scored four goals late in the game to force overtime, with the shot tying it at 11 finding the net with just 14.7 second remaining in regulation.

With 1:25 left in the first sudden death overtime, Caroline Wise scored her fifth goal of the night to give Bethlehem a thrilling victory.

Lindsey Ayers added three goals and two assists for Bethlehem while Avery Jones had two goals and Paige Halliday and Ashlyn McGrath had a goal each.

Ella Payer had five goals for Saratoga and Lindsay Frank had four.

Sophia Koch had 10 saves for Bethlehem and Abigail Searles had the same for Saratoga.

Shen got to the finals by knocking off Guilderland 10-9.

Bethlehem will square off against Shen in the Class AA finals at Mohonasen High School on Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m.
