VOORHEESVILLE — Behind two strong arms and active bats, the Blackbirds got a decisive win over Colonial Council rival Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk by a score of 10-1 on Wednesday, May 8.
Voorheesville jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one and added three more in the second and another three in the third to take an 8-1 lead into the fourth.
Nick Angelo, batting in the number eight spot, went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs and scored three runs to lead Voorheesville on offense.
Carter Romansky went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Alex Hoenig went 1 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs and he scored twice, and Alex Sapienza went 2 for 4. Joey Saia went 1 for 1 with an RBI and Colby Hoffman had a hit to round out the offense for Voorheesville.
Noah Algozzine went 1 for 3 with a double for RCS, while Spencer Kane went 1 for 1 with two walks and Aiden Carlisle and Jason Reif had a hit each.
On the mound Kellen Chowenhill went four and two thirds, giving up the one run on one hit while walking six and striking out a dozen. Hoenig came in to finish it off and gave up three hits while striking out three.
Carter Sorensen went four innings for RCS, giving up nine runs on seven hits while walking six and striking out five. Reif came in to pitch the last two, giving up a run on two hits while walking four and striking out two.
