COLONIE — The Raiders ran away from Albany High in the first round of the Section II, Class AA tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 20, and will now play the No. 2 seed Saratoga.
Colonie, the No. 7 seed, controlled the entire game but had a decisive third quarter, outscoring the No. 10 seed by 21-7, to open up a 20-point lead. The final was 62-36.
Aaron Satin led all scorers with 18 points including going seven for 10 from the free throw line. Brendan Cole had 13 for Colonie while Donovan Canty had 10. Marcus Shelton had seven points, Victor Pharr had five, Josh Aybar had four Logan Scott had three and Carter Bach had two to round out the scoring for Colonie.
The Colonie defense did not allow an Albany player to score double digits. Tye-Rell Monroe had seven and Wendel Colon and Khalon Penn has six each for Albany.
The Colonie and Saratoga game is slated to tip off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Hudson Valley Community College.
