COLONIE – In front of a loud, capacity crowd, and on ribbon-cutting night of the brand new turf field, The Bison routed Guilderland 27-0.
After a scoreless first quarter, Logan Souza scored six after about a 40-yard scamper and then Ravion Burt hammered home from two yards out in the third. Both extra point kicks by Jack Leito were good to give Shaker a 14-0 lead after three.
In the fourth, Mike Amponsah scored from 10 yards out and Leito hit his third extra point of the game. Jack Nelson scored Shaker’s final six to round out the scoring.
With the win, Shaker goes to 5-0 and remains in first place in Class AA. Guilderland drops to 3-2.
Prior to the game, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new turf field that was built over the summer and the field was re-dedicated to Arthur W. walker, a longtime Shaker teacher, coach and mentor to many who was on hand for the event.
