VOORHEESVILLE – The Blackbirds beat Ichabod Crane in a Colonial Council matchup that was more lopsided than the 1-0 score.
The majority of the game was played on Voorheesville’s offensive end of the field as the Birds went to 6-1-1 in conference play, where it is in first place of the Patriot Division, and 7-2-1 overall. The tie came against undefeated Schalmont, who sits atop the Liberty Division of the Colonial Council, on Voorheesville’s homecoming night.
Emma Farrell scored the games lone goal with a shot that ricocheted off the crossbar and fell behind the Ichabod keeper, Cali Ringwood, who had a dozen saves on the day. Amanda Gillenwalters got the assist.
Maggie Thayer and Leah Weber combined for three saves for The Blackbirds.
Voorheesville will play at Lansingburgh on Wednesday, Sept. 27 and Ichabod Crane (1-6, 1-7) will play at Holy Names on Monday, Oct. 1.
