MALTA – The Shaker softball season came to an end on Friday, May 25, after losing to Columbia in the Class AA semifinals by a score of 4-0.
Columbia, the No. 4 seed, scored all four runs in the third inning and standout pitcher Maddie Burns tossed a two hitter and struck out 10.
Shaker, the No. 8 seed, beat crosstown rival and No. 1 seed Colonie to earn a spot in the semis.
Tia Snyder and Meg Kutey got hits for Shaker while Samantha Hardnick was on the mound.
Columbia will now play the No. 2 seed from Ballston Spa for the championship on Tuesday, May 29.
