TROY – Colonie jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, beating Bethlehem 67-49 to win the Section II, Class AA title on Saturday, March 3, at Hudson Valley Community College.
The Raiders, seeded No. 2, beat No. 7 Albany and crosstown rival Shaker, the No. 3 seed, before meeting up with the No. 4 seed Bethlehem in the finals.
Colonie’s Aliyah Wright led all scorers with 23 points while Alivia Paeglow had 17, Sareena Dicerbo had 13 and Erin Fouracre had eight.
Bethlehem, which upset No. 1 seed Shen to make it into the finals, were led by Maggie Kirby with 15 points and Molly Kirby with 10. Ava LaClair and Tessa Hughes had seven points each and Julianna Okoniewski chipped in four.
Colonie will now play in the regional tournament.
