COLONIE – Two of the top Suburban Council boys basketball teams squared off on Tuesday, Jan. 16, but in the end it wasn’t really a contest. Shen beat CBA by 24.
It was a game in the first half with CBA (8-2, 10-2) holding a one point lead – 27-26 – heading into the break but Shen held the Brothers to just three points in the third quarter and eight in the fourth.
TJ Sangare had 17 points to lead Shen, including going eight of nine from the line. Chris Hulbert chipped in 15 including three three pointers. Abbas Merchant had nine points, all in the second half, and there were three Shen (8-1, 11-2) players with five points – Greg Monroe, Joshua Nails, and Jake Reinisch.
For the Brothers, Jordan King had 20 points to lead all scorers, including five threes. All his points, though, came in the first half. Peter O’Toole had six points and Brandan Grimes and Andrew Signore had four points each.
On Friday, Jan. 19, CBA will play at Mohonasen and Shen will host Colonie.
