COLONIE –The Brothers from CBA dominated rival LaSalle 53-37 in round 1 on Wednesday, Dec. 27, and then beat Amsterdam 71-65 a day later to keep the Holiday Basketball Tournament cup at home.
In the championship game, standout junior point guard Jordan King had 21 to lead the Brothers (7-1) and senior Pryce Wasula had 20. Junior Peter O’Toole had 14 while Justin Caufield and Andrew Signor had eight points each.
Willie Brown had 27 for Amsterdam (6-2 in the Foothills Council) to lead all scorers and Louis Fedullo had 16 and Osvauldo Dejesus had 13.
In the opening game, King had 22, Wasula and Signor had 10 each and O’Toole chipped in nine to beat the Colonial Council Cadets (7-1.)
LaSalle beat Bethlehem (4-5) in the consolation game by a score of 55-44.
Senior Raymond Evans had 18 for the Cadets (7-1) to lead all scorers, while Ian Duncan had 11 and Conner Cepiel and Seth LaForest had nine each.
Juniors Eric Salo and Patrick Ryan scored 12 each for Bethlehem and Jakob Laclair chipped in seven. Braden Laclair had six points while Will Davis had five and Orlando DiBacco had two to round out the scoring for Bethlehem.
Bethlehem was playing without junior standout Michael Ortale, who was injured in a first round loss against Amsterdam.
