COLONIE – The No. 2 seed Blue Bison outlasted the Dutchmen from Guilderland in the Section II, Class AA quarterfinals on Friday, Oct. 20, and won at home by a score of 27-16.
Guilderland got on the board first with a field goal by Nick Popolizio, but Shaker answered with 13 straight on an 8-yard run by Ravion Burt and an 18-yard scamper by Joe Toutai.
Shaker added to its 13-point halftime lead when Logan Souza returned the kickoff 81 yards to open the second half.
Guilderland scored shortly after on a 2-yard run by Jared Schwartz but Burt answered with his second touchdown of the game.
Schwartz scored his second touchdown of the night for Guilderland in the fourth quarter to close the gap to 27-16 but it was as close as the Dutch would get.
Shaker will travel to Saratoga on Friday, Oct. 27, to play the undefeated Blue Streaks in the semifinals. Saratoga beat Bethlehem 34-13 in the quarterfinals.
