COLONIE – The Shenendehowa girls pulled off a close one by beating the Raiders 71-64 in a Suburban Council matchup on Friday, Jan. 27.
The game was tight throughout, with the largest lead by either team being the seven-point spread the Plainsmen built at the final buzzer thanks to some clutch free throws after Colonie was forced to foul.
Shen went 12 for 18 from the line in the fourth quarter.
Leading the way for the Raiders of Colonie on their home court was Alivia Paeglow with 19, but the standout sophomore was held scoreless in the fourth quarter. Her teammate and classmate, Aliyah Wright, had 18 points, including four threes. Junior Erin Fouracre chipped in 13 for Colonie.
Junior Alexandra Tudor and her classmate Cameron Tooley each had 20 for the Plainsmen. Junior Megan Gillooley chipped in 14.
Rounding out the Colonie scoring were: Freshman Sareena Dicerbo with eight, including six in the final quarter, Sophomore Kyara Triblet with four points and her classmate Kelly Myaisha chipped in a bucket.
For Shen, freshman Kaitlyn Watrobski and junior Claire Drum each had six points, sophomore Catherine Almeida had three points and senior Alexa Knudsen chipped in two.
Colonie will host Burnt Hills Ballston Lake on Tuesday Jan. 31 while Shen travels to Albany.
