BETHLEHEM – The Eagles boys basketball team held off the Raiders of Colonie on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 62-59 in a non-conference matchup at home
The game was back and forth with each team taking sizable leads as they swapped momentum.
Bethlehem (2-1) led 16-8 after one, but trailed Colonie (2-1) 32-22 at the half.
The Eagles scored 24 – led by senior forward Hayden Thompson with 11 – in the third to knot the score at 46 with a quarter to play.
It was Colonie’s turn to score in bunches, though, and had took a five-point lead, 57-52, with three minutes to play.
The Eagles then scored six unanswered, including two clutch free throws by Matthew Riker, and took a 58-57 lead with 53 seconds left.
Thompson scored seven more in the fourth quarter to help seal the deal for the Eagles and ended the night with 24, leading all scorers.
Ryan Murray had nine for the Eagles and three players finished with eight points each: Riker, Michael Ortale and Braden LaClair. Sean Flynn had seven to round out the scoring for Bethlehem.
Junior Bryce Waterman led the Raiders with 16. Junior Isaiah Moll had 14 while Senior Josh Paszkowski knocked down 11 and Brendon Mulson and Will Abar had eight and six points, respectively.
Bethlehem takes on Shaker Friday night at home, and Colonie will host Saratoga Central Catholic.
