Latham Blue Tigers win state softball title

The Latham Blue Tigers won the New York State ASA 10-and-under softball title. The team includes Olivia DeCitise, Geena Fratangelo, Ashley Hacker, Brianna Hardwick, Erin Huban, Karleigh Mirable, Olivia Pardo, Izabelle Ratcliffe, Kylee Snyder, Bella Venetz and Evie Vincelette. LATHAM — The Latham Blue Tigers 10-and-under softball team won the New York State American Softball Association title by beating the Dutchess Debs 8-4 in the final Sunday, June 26.

The Blue Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead against the Debs, and they never looked back to claim the state title after entering the playoffs as the No. 4 seed.

Latham lost the opener to Guilderland 6-5 Friday, June 24, before reeling off five consecutive victories, including a 7-6 win against Guilderland in the tournament’s semifinals.

Latham scored more than 50 runs in the three-day tournament.
