Bethlehem’s Jenna Giacone among 11 Section 2 Class AA girls basketball players named to All-State team

CAPITAL DISTRICT — Shenendehowa’s Carly Boland and Bethlehem’s Jenna Giacone were among 11 Section 2 Class AA girls basketball players named to the New York State Sportswriters Association All-State team Tuesday, May 3.

Boland was selected to the first team after leading Shen to the state final four, while Giacone was a second team selection after guiding Bethlehem to a second place finish in the Suburban Council’s Blue Division. Boland’s teammate, Sydney Brown, was named to the fourth team.

Other Class AA players receiving All-State honors were Columbia’s Selena Lott (10th team), Shaker’s Sierra “CeCe” Mayo (12th team), Saratoga Springs’ Kerry Flaherty (13th team) and Catholic Central’s Abby Fountain (14th team). Albany’s Leah Dollard, Saratoga’s Catherine Cairns, Bethlehem’s Emily Wander and Ballston Spa’s Jordan Hipwell all received honorable mentions.
