Four members of the Glenville-based Jason Morris Judo Center team took home medals from the Dallas Invitational Judo Championships Nov. 23.
Brad Bolen and Tony Sangimino each earned gold medals and a $1,000 first prize. Bolen defeated JMJC teammate Dave Harris in the 66-kilogram division, while Sangimino finished first in the 81kg division after posting a 6-0 record. Harris took home a silver medal and entered the United States rankings at No. 7.
Maria Dhami placed third in the women’s 52kg weight class. Eric Skylar was fifth in the men’s 81kg division, while Jack Hatton placed seventh.
Sangimino and Hatton each won gold medals for JMJC at the USA Judo Presidents Cup tournament Nov. 24, also outside Dallas. Sangimino claimed the men’s 81kg division title, while Hatton earned gold in the under-21 81kg division and finished third to Sangimino in the men’s division.
Bolen collected a silver medal in the men’s 66kg division, while Skylar placed second to Hatton in the U21 81kg division. Skylar also finished seventh in the men’s 81kg standings.
Dhami was second in the women’s 52kg weight class, and Nick Irabli placed second in the U21 +100kg division. Irabli also took fifth place in the men’s +100kg division to earn a No. 8 ranking in the country. Harris finished fifth in the men’s 66kg division.
