Colonie was your choice to win the Suburban Council South Division softball title in last week’s poll. This week, we shift gears to the college sports ranks for this simple question: How will new Siena men’s basketball coach Jimmy Pastos fare in his first season in Loudonville?
Pastos is inheriting a Siena team coming off an 8-24 season and losing its top player, O.D. Anosike, to graduation. There is also a possibility Pastos won’t have guard Rakeem Brookins, as Brookins was recently arrested and charged with burglary for allegedly stealing another student’s wallet.
The good news for Pastos is that he has two recruits coming into the program, including Troy High School center Javion Ogunyemi, and reportedly three more players seriously considering the school. Pastos also has a history of turning around struggling programs as he took a 1-win Loyola (Md.) program in 2004 and built it into a perennial MAAC power — one which reached the NCAA Tournament in 2012.
Your choices are detailed in the box to the left of the screen. Voting will remain open until 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
