Editor, The Spotlight;
I would like to thank all those who donated at the Annual Town Hall Blood Drive held Monday, Sept. 8. We achieved 140 percent of our goal set by the Red Cross! Also highly commendable, we had 19 first-time donors!
I would also like to thank Liz Mosier for assisting with organizing, Barbara Kuhn and Kathy Newkirk as well as members of the Delmar Progress Club who volunteered at the sign-in and canteen tables.
Without anyone asking, the branch manager at the National Bank of Coxsackie in Glenmont offered to advertise the drive on their electronic sign. Thank you for that.
Please take an hour of your time and offer to donate blood. Being potentially uncomfortable for the 4-10 minutes of actual donation time is so small when compared to the pain endured by those who will receive your blood. Depending on your blood type, your donation will be in another person within 4-7 days so the need is real and unending. Each time you donate one pint of blood, you are potentially saving three lives.
Please visit www.redcrossblood.org/make-donation-v6 to find a drive or location convenient to you and schedule your next or first appointment. As an added bonus, all presenting donors in the month of September will receive a free t-shirt and coupon for a free haircut.
We wouldn’t have had such a successful drive without our volunteers and our generous donors. Thank you!
