Editor, Colonie Spotlight:
The story “South Colonie mourns teacher Students pay tribute to Donald Walton by wearing gray and green” (March 19) was a truly touching story. It shows just how much of an impact a teacher has on their students. With graduation approaching for the senior class the sense of togetherness they must be feeling is inspirational. Whenever a tragedy occurs, it really shows just how much people can come together.
Walton sounded like a remarkable man. “Walton retired from the Army having reached the rank of major after serving for 23 years.” After working at the school for 15 years, it was great to hear that the students honored him by wearing gray for brain cancer awareness and wearing green for his time served in the military.
As someone who lives in Colonie, it is great to see how great the people are who also live here.
