Editor, The Spotlight:
Every opportunity to vote is your chance to give direction to government.
On April 30, we all have an opportunity to go to Town Hall and vote to abolish the elected position of Highway Superintendent, placing the duties with the Commissioner of Public Works. A “Yes” vote will give the town greater flexibility to implement various consolidation and efficiency measures that allow our DPW, Highway and other departments to optimize use of their staffs, strengthen and consolidate management and ensure accountability to the Town Board. Highways will continue to be maintained, with duties carried out by a combination of existing civil service staff and the DPW Commissioner. Town services will continue and we will all benefit from the resulting economies. This is a necessary and logical step in modernization of town government.

Vote “Yes” on the April 30 referendum; get to Town Hall (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and exercise your opportunity to modernize town government and save taxpayers money!
