Editor, The Spotlight:
The letter of March 6, 2013, on “find a safer way to cross” seems to absolve the responsibility of motorists to stop at crosswalks and especially at school crossings. What kind of motorists would put the safety of children at risk just to save a minute of driving time? The State DOT will determine if the crossing should be moved or enhanced but in the meanwhile, drivers, please stop for school children and others in marked crosswalks. I have three grandchildren attending the Elsmere school. Don’t hit them.
PS: It is against the State Law and drivers should be hit with the largest fine possible for putting school children and crossing guards at risk just to save a minute. What are you thinking!
