Editor, The Spotlight:
Bethlehem is an attractive community with well-tended green spaces and beautiful vistas. The town’s new sign law helps to keep it that way.
The primary election was marked by signs on local lawns, a good means of informing neighbors and friends of the candidates they support. It was pleasant to drive along public highways and see them sign-free. Quite a contrast to the roads in other towns that were littered with political campaign signs.
Kudos to the not-for-profit groups who asked for a change in the old law, to Supervisor Clarkson and the Town Board who enacted the new law, and to the town employees who enforce that law. We all benefit from this. (And shame on the politicians who illegally placed their signs in the traffic circles on the morning of the election.)
