Editor, The Spotlight:
On behalf of the Bethlehem Parks and Recreation Department I would like to thank several organizations for their generous donations toward accessible equipment for our pool complex. New ADA regulations require that public swimming pools have an approved pool lift as an accessible means of entry into the water. The lift must be capable of unassisted operation by the user and one was required at both the Olympic pool and the L-shaped learn to swim pool. Also, our stairs in the Olympic pool needed to be replaced to be compliant. The following organizations made this all possible:
• Delmar Rotary Club
• Bethlehem Senior Projects, Inc.
• Bethlehem Business Women’s Club
Funds raised from the Delmar Duathlon also contributed to the stairs. These donations will provide accessibility to those with special challenges so that they may enjoy our beautiful pool complex for many years to come.
