Editor, The Spotlight:
We would like to thank the Bethlehem community for its assistance to the Bethlehem High School History Bowl Team. As a result of the generosity of the community members who made purchases at our bake sales, and the assistance of the Bethlehem Central Community Foundation, we were able to send 12 students to compete in the National History Bee and Bowl Competition in Washington, D.C. on April 28. It was exciting to join over 100 teams from around the country (and even a team from Guam) in testing our mastery of history. The setting of the matches added to the excitement, as many were held in embassies or historic sites around the District of Columbia. Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams advanced beyond the first round of the competition to the contention round, and the J.V. team advanced from there to the final 16-tearm elimination bracket, seeded seventh.
We are already looking forward to next year’s competition.
