Editor, The Spotlight:
Ask a veteran why he fought and you’ll most likely hear “for my country.” That’s why Roy McDonald fought in the Viet Nam War, as did I. We didn’t fight for “some of our country” or only a selected political party, although we’re both Republicans, but to uphold freedom for all. As State Senator, Roy McDonald has continued to fight for all the residents in his district, ensuring our continued economic development while preserving the up-state way of life.
Roy McDonald knows what it’s like to grow up here, to come from a working class family. He knows what it means to do hard manual labor and he knows the value of continued education. To better represent all citizens he has traveled throughout the district, listened to the concerns of everyday families and made sure they have equal and fair access to the American Dream he fought to preserve. Roy is more than a veteran; he’s a husband, father and grandfather who brings his added insight to the State Senate.
Ask any veteran, man or woman, why they served. It was for America, for everyone, not just a selected few. Ask Roy why he serves and he’ll tell you “It’s an honor to serve.” Re-elect Roy McDonald and send an honorable man to the State Senate to represent all of us.
