Editor, The Spotlight:
We are the BEAT Team. Members of this team are school bus drivers and attendants. BEAT stands for Bethlehem Education Awareness Team, an inspiration of the Bethlehem Central Transportation Department in 1996. Every day we witness crucial situations why school bus safety must be taught in schools.
We have a website, www.BEATeam.org, to better share our activities and curriculum. The website is a great way to see Buster the school bus robot and the team in action and to see who our supporters are. We don’t do this alone.
We need sponsors to continue our cause. In the past we have built school bus sets for our skits such as “BULLY ON THE BUS” performed by the students in each elementary school.
Many of the student’s questions go unanswered until the day when BEAT, with Buster center stage, gives them a safe place to speak out.
The BEAT team is seeking community support to help us continue our cause. We hope providing this chance to donate brings not only tax deduction incentives to businesses and individuals in our community, but also spur our common mindfulness in traffic situations when school buses are right there in front of us delivering their precious cargo.
