The Colonie Town Library is inviting all ages to participate in the March Reading Challenge, a fundraiser to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. RMHC-CR is an organization dedicated to helping children and families, especially those struggling with childhood illnesses and injuries. It works to keep families together and close to the care that they need. Donations raised will be used to support the families served by RMHC-CR and 10 percent of these funds will be given to The Friends of the William K. Sanford Town Library, a non-profit organization that supports the library, and therefore, the surrounding community.
Participants are encouraged to gather sponsors who will pledge either a flat amount for all reading accomplished, or a specific amount of money pledged per minute read. There will be certificates and prizes for those who reach the $10 and $100 benchmarks. This is a fun way to get family and friends involved, while supporting both literacy and local charities. Registration for all ages begins Feb. 18 on the library’s website, colonielibrary.org, and reading begins March 1.
