GUILDERLAND LIBRARY: Sonny & Perley’s recording session
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Our next GPL Cabaret Night is on Friday, Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m., and it’s sure to once again fill to capacity.  This after-hours special evening performance of jazz standards will feature the wonderful stylings of vocalist Teresa Broadwell and her accomplished quintet. Relax with a glass of wine, appetizers and soothing music to usher in the weekend on a pleasant note.  Please register for this program online, by phone or in person (space is limited), and bring a photo I.D. if you’re planning to enjoy a glass of wine.

Move It!

Children in grades 3-5 are invited to participate in this kinetic-based after-school program as GPL Adventures encourages them to “Move It!” on Thurs. Jan. 9 at 3:30 p.m.  Among the fun activities planned, we’ll be running, jumping, competing for fun and working as a team with jump ropes, hula hoops, stretchy bands, and maybe even a parachute!  Please register online, by phone or in person.

New streaming service

We’re excited to launch RBDigital, the only library streaming service that allows you to  binge-watch your favorites.

At your fingertips: AcornTV (British TV & film); IndieFlix (pop culture favorites, box office hits, award-winning films, documentaries, and shorts); Stingray Qello (the world’s largest collection of concert films and music documentaries); and The Great Courses (spanning scores of topics from wellness, food and finance to science, travel, language, hobbies and much more!)

Your Guilderland or Altamont library card grants you a seven-day loan, and downloads are unlimited during January.

Sign up for a one-on-one session with a librarian to take full advantage of our digital options, and bring your library card and mobile device to the appointment.

Call 518-456-2400, extension 3 for more information, or visit https://guilderlandlibrary.org/e-library-landing-page/#watchtv to get started.

Winter Reading Challenge

Can you help us read 4,000 books during the month of January? Over 1,000 libraries are taking part in Beanstack’s Third Annual Winter Reading Challenge.

Last year we read 3,775 books, so this year we’ve raised the bar!

Log your completed books online at guilderlandlibrary.beanstack.org.  If we’re a top reading library, we could win an author visit or other great prizes from Penguin Random House.

Happy Reading!

Knuffle Bunny

Join us for a fun read-aloud and related art project on Friday, Jan. 10 at 3:30 p.m. as we enjoy the heartwarming story of Knuffle Bunny together.

This program is for pre-K through Grade 2, and registration is required.  Be sure to dress for a mess!

— Luanne Nicholson
