Truth Compassion Tolerance

January’s month-long art exhibit is an extraordinarily moving, intimate, and inspiring display detailing both an inner spiritual life and an outer human rights tragedy. Realistic oil paintings and Chinese watercolors from mostly Chinese artists give a unique insight into the spiritual discipline Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa.

The keynote speaker: is Xiaoping Chen, an accomplished painter born in China and based in New York. Presented by the Eastern U.S. Buddha Study Falun Dafa Association.

The exhibit runs to Jan. 29.

The probate process

Monday, Jan. 6,

This seminar teaches the basics of the probate process, including explanations of probate, fiduciaries, and the steps involved in the process. Ideal for anyone curious about probate but doesn’t know where to start.

Hudson Mohawk Bird Club: aerial insectivorous

Swallows, nightjars, swifts, and flycatchers have experienced alarming population declines in North America in recent decades. Joe Corra will present his master’s thesis research, which investigates links between aerial insectivore population declines and insects, water quality, and urbanization.

Elder Law and long term care planning

This free, public seminar will detail the basics of long-term care planning in regards to elder law and how best to plan for your or a loved one’s long-term care, including matters of guardianship, estate planning, and Medicaid.

2020 Census Information

2 p.m., 3:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.

The Census Bureau’s educational program will provide information about the importance of the census, what to expect in the 2020 Census, and how individual information is absolutely private and confidential. This information session with describe the census process and how every individual will be counted. Presented by Robert Scardamalia, a partnership specialist with the U.S. Census Bureau.
