Dear Editor:
On behalf of BSA Scout Troop 75 in Delmar, we would like to thank the entire local community for its support of our annual fundraiser, Sportsmart, which was held for the 47th time at the Bethlehem Central High School on November 23, 2019.
Sportsmart is our annual consignment sale of all kinds of new and used sporting goods. Because of the tremendous support we received from the people of this community who came to Sportsmart and those that helped us promote it, the Troop was able to raise significant funds for its activities.
More importantly, based upon the community’s donations, we raised close to $500 in funds that will be donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, in memory of Barbara Kane, one of our Scout mothers who unfortunately passed this year.
Troop 75 would also like to thank the following businesses, whose donations of time, equipment, food and support once again helped make Sportsmart a resounding success: TACS Auto; Glenmont Self Storage, Cottage Hill Apartments and National Bank of Coxsackie.
We also had dozens of local businesses and community groups who donated silent auction items and otherwise helped us promote Sportsmart – we thank them as well and a list of those businesses can be found on our Facebook page (see below).
We also thank the wonderful administrative and custodial staff at Bethlehem High School for the assistance they provide. We further thank The Spotlight for announcing Sportsmart in its “Community” Section.
Finally, we thank the Troop’s charter sponsor, the First United Methodist Church in Delmar.
