Dear Editor,
Every decision has two sides to it, an up-side and a down-side. Our town board currently has only one member who is not a Democrat. I am not anti-Democrat, but every tax-paying voice in this town deserves to have its side heard.
Jim Carriero has been walking house to house speaking with residents of all persuasions to hear their concerns. I know Jim and this open-ness will not stop when he is elected to the Town Board. Has the opposing candidate been out there on street corners even to be available to hear residents concerns?
Jim has a very strong financial background. Unlike a non-profit a business must build a financial plan that meets current needs and considers future needs. A town is a “business.”
Constantly raising taxes to meet every new vanity project is not the answer.
Our elected officials are charged with making decisions for the whole town with the welfare of the whole town in mind. These decisions are very costly and often permanent. Change the configuration of Delaware Ave. will affect everyone, directly and indirectly.
The success of our businesses is important for all residents, as a tax base and our convenience. Picture your current drive to Hannaford Plaza or to your job at the State Plaza and imagine it with only one lane available because the other lanes are designated “turning lane” and “bike lane.” There is a city or school bus ahead of you and there is no passing lane to use. This is a change that should have taken the local businesses into consideration and their input canvassed aggressively.
We need more than one voice on the Town Board. Every one of us needs to be truly listened to and not dismissed.
Jim has been endorsed by the Republican, Conservative, and Independent Partys. While campaigning Jim has spoken with Democrats as well. He will truly be for the welfare and concerns of ALL residents.
Vote for Jim Carriero for Town Board.
