Dear Editor of The Spotlight:
By working closely with Jim Carriero during his campaign for Bethlehem Town Board, I have witnessed many fine attributes befitting of a Town Board member and as a representative to the residents of this town.
Jim has 37 years experience in the banking industry, seven years as a bank president resulting in a strong financial background; strong leadership and communication skills; and knows the importance for the public to understand issues both short-term and long-term.
I have attended Comprehensive Planning meetings and heard residents express concerns regarding a lack of representation in out-lining areas. Jim continues to visit residents throughout the town including the Hamlets. He engages in conversations and listens to their concerns regarding town issues. I agree with Jim that our town needs to practice fair and balanced government.
Jim has met with local business owners and is in opposition of the Delaware Avenue “Road Diet” project. Reducing lanes, reduces vehicles; therefore, commuters and shoppers just might find alternative routes resulting in taking their business elsewhere. Can Bethlehem really afford to lose businesses? Perhaps, tax dollars would be better allocated to improving the aging infrastructure (water, sewer) or to the Highway Department for improvements, e.g., roads, storm sewers, sidewalks, instead of setting up “special” projects or funds.
I believe Jim Carriero can respectfully contribute new perspectives to issues facing our town and work towards outcomes that benefit not only government, but residents, businesses, community and taxpayers.
Bethlehem residents have an opportunity this Election Day to balance town government, bring new insight to town issues, and fiscal wisdom to the Town Board. Vote for Jim Carriero for Bethlehem Town Board.
