At my very core, I’m just a soldier.
I’ve served my country proudly for the past 17 years and my life of service has taken me everywhere. Iraq, Afghanistan and even to Staten Island after Superstorm Sandy roared up the Atlantic coast.
My life of service continues here at home. In 2018, after serving two years representing portions of Albany, North Bethlehem and Slingerlands on the Albany County Legislature, my colleagues saw fit to elect me Chair of this august body.
Now, instead of getting much needed fuel from southern Iraq in to Baghdad International Airport, or implementing access control measures at forward operating bases in Taliban country, or coordinating relief efforts for my fellow New Yorkers, my new charge is leading desperately needed reform efforts on the Legislature.
Folks, I need reinforcements.
On Primary Day, June 25th, I need you to cast your vote for Joanne Cunningham, Jeff Kuhn and Matt Miller for Albany County Legislature.
Joanne represents central Delmar and is an excellent and hardworking legislator. Joanne has led the legislature’s efforts on creating a non-political, independent and transparent redistricting process, environmental protections through her work on the plastic bag ban and fee bill, and is a cosponsor on progressive bills like Paid Sick Leave for Albany County, pay equity, and other important advancements. Joanne is one of the legislature’s best thinkers. She can also curse better than many of the soldiers I’ve served with.
Jeff is running for an open seat in the legislature representing Delmar and Glenmont. Jeff is exactly the kind of legislator we need: thoughtful, progressive, smart and hard working. Jeff has the experience of working as a town board leader and deputy town supervisor, and is an attorney who will be a tremendous resource in the legislature. Jeff possesses a level headed and deliberate approach to problem solving, which is exactly what we need right now.
Matt is running in the southern part of town, in Selkirk and South Bethlehem. Matt is a seasoned teacher, a Union leader and a powerful advocate who will be a voice for action in the legislature. Matt will ensure that the county infrastructure needs of Bethlehem will be prioritized and will be an asset who will hit the ground running.
We wear the clumsy attacks from the waning, old guard machine politicians and their lackeys as badges of honor. Our push for progress will continue. on Primary Day on June 25th, vote to elect Cunningham, Kuhn, and Miller for continued positive change in Bethlehem and the Albany County Legislature.
